Palm Coast, FL February 04, 2026 --(PR.com)-- Stephanie Henry, a writer, mother, lover of life, speaker, and activist, has completed her new audiobook, “If Only I Could Sleep: A Survivor's Memoir”: an astonishing memoir of survival and courage told in the face of unthinkable odds that follows the author through her journey of abuse, trauma, and how she found her way through the darkness.

In “If Only I Could Sleep,” author Stephanie Henry takes listeners on a harrowing journey of abuse and struggles that began at a young age when her granduncle molested her. The soul-crushing experience was but the first in a series of sexual abuse perpetrated by family members and strangers that wrecked her self-esteem and left her feeling isolated, guilt-ridden, and confused. Out of necessity, Stephanie became an instant expert at survival and a student of spiritual endurance.

Desperate to regain some sense of control, she began an emotionally shattering struggle with bulimia and the curse of having “the look” men desire. After slipping through the education system, multiple suicide attempts, years of working as a stripper, losing custody of her daughter, battling drugs and alcohol, and enduring a string of ill-fated marriages, Stephanie put her life on course by reaching out to others and fighting for voiceless victims of exploitation around the world.

“Having journaled my life for many, many years, my story seemed to be materializing as this memoir,” writes Henry. “For forty plus years of my existence, I never spoke of the trauma or the survival and then seeminly unaware, I was being guided to speak up because it would help others and that was happening because I found myself wanting to advocate for victims of sexual violence, be an activist for those being exploited and sold in Human Trafficking. So, if I was going to authentically and without reserve share, I had to share the vulnerable pieces of me as well as the pieces I wasn’t scared to share.”

The author continues, “The reality of my story is that my own personal justice never happened but that because I did speak up, others would have their justice prevail and that gives my soul a sense of peace. Lastly, the journey of this story goes from my birth throughout my mid forties and it proves one very important thing that aIl victims must comprehend. Once we are violently victimized, that is a piece that we can never get back and we must understand that just like someone who loses one of their senses, the remaining senses are heightened and stronger, so we can depend on the remaining parts of us that deserve to be heard and more importantly loved.”

Audiobooks are the fastest growing segment in the digital publishing industry. According to The Infinite Dial 2019, 50% of Americans age 12 and older have listened to an audiobook. This huge growth can be partly attributed to increased listening in cars, which surpassed the home as the #1 audiobook listening location in the 2019 survey. Smart speaker proliferation also bodes well for future listening growth and more mainstream listening.
