Cincinnati, OH, Oct. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GoSun, a private solar EV startup based in Cincinnati, has opened its 2026 Regulation Crowdfunding round through StartEngine. Individual investors researching startup EV investment opportunities can read the round’s Form C on SEC EDGAR and its offering page on StartEngine. It is GoSun’s first round since the Moonrider 27 electric tractor was introduced at the 2026 Farm Progress Show. Alongside the round, CEO and Founder Patrick Sherwin has published a guide to what to check before backing a startup EV company that isn’t public yet, starting with what a company has delivered.
GoSun filed the round’s Form C with the SEC on Sept. 30, 2026, through StartEngine Primary, LLC. It is the company’s sixth original Form C, following filings in 2017, 2019, 2021, 2024 and 2025, all public on SEC EDGAR.
“Anyone looking at a private EV company should be able to see what it has delivered and what is still on reservation,” said Patrick Sherwin, CEO and Founder of GoSun. “We began shipping solar cookers in 2014, and our tractor and cargo e-bike are currently on reservation. We’d rather investors judge us on that record than on a pitch video.”
GoSun has shipped solar products since 2014 while its newest vehicles remain on reservation for 2027
GoSun began shipping its GoSun Sport and GoSun Mini solar cookers in 2014 and had sent more than 1,000 products to 22 countries by July of that year, Sherwin told Soapbox Cincinnati at the time. GoSun’s website now lists more than 180,000 customers in over 100 countries.
The electric vehicle line is newer. The Gopher Solar Cargo E-Bike and the Moonrider 27 compact electric tractor are taking $50 refundable reservations for delivery in 2027. Both electric boat models, the Elcat and the Elcat Splash, show as in limited supply on gosun.co as of October 2026. GoSun announced on Start Engine in an update that 350 EV Chargers have now been delivered.

Moonrider 27 is a 27 hp compact electric tractor with an optional solar canopy
GoSun and Moonrider introduced the Moonrider 27 compact electric tractor to the North American market at the 2026 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa. It is built for small farms and rural properties and can recharge from an optional solar canopy.
“We build solar tools for energy independence on the home, the farm and the roadway, and the Moonrider 27 is the newest of them, a 27 hp electric tractor that charges from its own solar canopy or a 220 volt outlet. It is on reservation, and we would rather say that plainly than call it shipping,” Sherwin added.
